IRON MAIDEN as first headliners on Thursday 18 June
Graspop Metal Meeting XL programme with 4 full festival days!
Break out the booze and light those candles! The 25th edition of Graspop Metal Meeting takes place in Dessel during the third weekend of June 2020. We’re pulling out all the stops for this anniversary edition and just like in 2018 we’ve got an XL programme for you with 4 full festival days! True to tradition, the Stenehei festival park in Dessel will host a blistering line-up with a generous selection of top bands from the hard rock and heavy metal scenes. We’re starting things off on a high note with the announcement of our Thursday headliner: IRON MAIDEN! With nine GMM appearances under their belt the English metal legends have become something of a fixture so naturally we couldn’t imagine a 25th anniversary bash without them! Iron Maiden are headlining main stage 1 on Thursday 18 June.
What started out as a one-day affair in 1996 has developed over the years into a festive weekend no heavy music fan likes to miss. The organisers spare no effort to bill the best bands at the Stenehei festival park and they go out of their way to make the festival-goers as comfortable as possible. Two main stages, the Marquee, the Red Bull Metal Dome and the Jupiler Stage will host more than 120 bands in total, all eager to make a lasting impression. Graspop Metal Meeting 2020 is off to a flying start with the announcement of our first headliner! Iron Maiden will once again headline at Graspop on June 18th as they return to Belgium on the final leg of their Legacy of the Beast tour following 2018’s sold-out performance there. So far, the band has played to close to two million fans in 39 countries around the globe since the tour opened in 2018, including headlining to a capacity crowd of 100,000 at this year’s legendary Rock In Rio festival in Brazil. Crammed full of hits and fan favourites spanning the band’s career, this show has something for everyone, whether you’re a hardcore Maiden fan or a casual festival-goer. Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson says: “We’ve had a fantastic time on the Legacy tour so far, and the reaction everywhere to the stage show and all the crazy props (and Eddie!) I get to play with has been phenomenal. The whole band has been having such fun and we’re really excited to bring this production back to Graspop Metal Meeting and reach even more of our fans.”
Our 2020 festivities will last not three but four whole days! In addition to Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Thursday 18 June will also be a full-fledged festival day. As usual there’s no shortage of fringe activities either. The different stay packages, varied catering, the spacious festival park and of course our unique GMM atmosphere are just a few of the aspects that help create a worry-free four-day event for all of our festival-goers. Those looking to spend the night at GMM2020 have a choice of Camping Boneyard, Camping Skullotel, Camping Metal Town, Devil’s Lake and Metal Park.
Tickets to Graspop Metal Meeting 2020 go on sale at 10 am on Friday 15 November via ticketmaster.be and proximusgoformusic.be.
