STRIFE SKR unveils the SECRET BAND!
unveil the secret band who in MY OPINION helped create IRON MAIDEN's trademark sound moreso than any other band that did indeed influence IRON MAIDEN. I really couldn't keep much of a tight lid on this because there's a lot of people who's getting the album & my team had it up on the site for a little while now, but in any event, it's all here now to buy. I cannot express how incredibly important this band is to the evolution of music and how they helped create some of the first heavy metal sounds. This is TOP TIER music. It's EASILY as good as JUDAS PRIEST, SCORPIONS, BLACK SABBATH, RUSH, BUDGIE, UFO, THIN LIZZY. They sound a lot like a cross between all of those bands, but they were truly original sounding and what came out of their very short lived career were POWERFUL DEEP SONGS. That's everything we want out of a band, right? Well they DELIVER! It's a shame they flew under a lot of people's radar (myself included). This band is from the land where all Heavy Music and Heavy Metal was created - the UNITED KINGDOM! The band is called STRIFE. They put out two full lengths "Rush" in 1975 and "Back To Thunder" in 1978 and I can HONESTLY say they're BOTH 10/10 albums (easily). I'm happy to share this, but before I do, let's talk about where EXACTLY they helped IRON MAIDEN create the song skeletons that they would use forever and become famous for. If you go and listen to the song "Man of the Wilderness", the beginning of that song has that IRON MAIDEN feel, but once you get to the last song on the album, the title track "Rush", this is probably where Steve Harris's head exploded because in my opinion this is THE SONG (first almost 3 minutes of it) where the birth of MAIDEN took place. Strangely enough that same year THIN LIZZY came out later in the year with the song "Suicide" and I'm certain that's also an influence, but I don't think it's as strong of an influence as the song "Rush". I've been talking to Mr. John Reid for a while now and he talked about Steve being a fan of STRIFE and how he used to book IRON MAIDEN in his rock club back in the late 70's/early 80's for only 60GBP (so you can imagine how long ago that was). Someone did confirm with me that there was an interview a long time ago where Steve Harris did reveal Strife as an influence but it was really never picked up on more after that as far as I'm aware, but this happens where amazing bands fall through the cracks and it's fun to discover stuff like this, so I hope ya'll enjoy the hard work we put into this to get this out and this is probably the PINNACLE re-issue SKR has ever done, so hopefully most of you will enjoy it half as much as I do. We created some very cool 70's styled t-shirts to go along with package. Enjoy and check it out and let me know what you think!
